Contemporary Indian artist Swaraj Das paints landscapes and cityscapes in a soft palette of muted blues, greens and pinks. The pond and lotus flowers are recurring subjects in his paintings, with a mix of closed buds and open petals. These flowers, whose beautiful blooms emerge from murky waters, are powerful symbols of purity, resilience and rebirth.

Inspired by the spontaneous style and natural themes of Impressionism, art by Swaraj Das captures light and movement through skillful layers of brushstrokes and splatters. His poetic and mysterious scenes seek a balance between opposites: peace and chaos, abstraction and figuration, reality and fantasy. Swaraj reflects on his approach, “I play with brushstrokes, colors, light and shade, endeavoring to transfer positive energy and emotion onto the canvas. When I paint, it is an almost surreal experience, where I lose a sense of self and time, and am wholly absorbed in my creation.”

Swaraj Dus studied at the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata. He has exhibited his artwork across India as well as in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Singapore, South Korea and United Arab Emirates.

Is shipping available worldwide?

Yes, we offer both domestic and international shipping, and all fees are on actuals. We frequently ship throughout the US as well as to Europe, Africa and Asia.

How are the artworks shipped?

All works including paintings, prints and sculptures are professionally packed. Smaller paintings can be shipped flat, and larger paintings can be unstretched and rolled in a tube. Each shipment is covered by transit insurance.

Are exchanges accepted?

Are the paintings framed?
