Art by Kandi NarsimluLipstick and bindis, amulets and jewelry, sarees and shopping bags—contemporary Indian artist Kandi Narsimlu’s subjects bring the contemporary to their bucolic life in Telangana. His women are wide-eyed, slender and sensual. The men are smart, sharp and serious. The clothes are always a riot of color, demonstrating the visual splendor of rural India.

Often in art by Kandi Narsimlu, figures appear with green or blue skin, a reference to each village’s ‘gram Devta,’ or the God or Goddess venerated by the local people. The surfaces of his works are smooth and flat, simple yet ornately detailed, just like traditional life in a village.

Kandi Narsimlu has an MFA from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad. He is an accomplished artist and received a gold medal from the Hyderabad Art Society in 2011. He has exhibited in multiple individual and group shows across India, and his original paintings are held in several private and public collections, including the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.

Kandi Narsimlu welcomes requests for commissioned paintings. If you like a painting that has sold, or if you have a particular space in mind, a custom painting can be made to your taste and specifications regarding size, color palette and other details. You are welcome to buy his paintings online or view them at our gallery in Palo Alto (San Francisco Bay Area). All artworks are hand signed by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.
