SIDDHARTH SHINGADE BIOGRAPHY
Blending nostalgia and legend, art by Siddharth Shingade is an homage to the people, culture and nature of his hometown in Maharashtra. Each painting tells a story inspired by his childhood recollections of farmers, toy sellers, gypsies and villagers. These figures, who are often overlooked in life and art, are honored at the center of his canvases. Cows, goats, trees, colorful embroidered blankets and musical instruments also frequently appear in his complex scenes, layered with folk symbols and detailed motifs.
“I deliberately use tones of browns and yellows to create an association with my land and its people, as well as maintaining a subdued tone reflecting the hardships faced by my community,” says artist Siddharth Shingade. His earthy color palette reflects the simplicity and warmth of rural life, despite the droughts that affect the region. As the tones shift subtly between skin and branch and soil, he emphasizes deep connection between the people and the landscape.
Siddharth Shingade completed his Diploma in Painting at the L.S. Raheja School of Art and later earned his Diploma in Art Education at the Sir J.J. School of Art. He has received several awards including the Maharashtra State Special Award and Karnataka Royal Shield (First Prize) from the Indian Royal Academy. He has exhibited across India as well as internationally in Italy, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia and other countries.
