3. COMMISSIONED ART

An art commission is a custom painting created by an artist at the client’s request and tailored to their specifications regarding size, color and theme.
Yes, we work with clients on custom artwork for their homes. You can read more about commissioning artworks here.
Additionally, we have written several blogs that provide an in-depth look at the process behind recent commissions, including paintings by Jagannath Paul and Basuki Das Gupta.
Commissioning art involves a high level of collaboration between the client, gallerist and artist. Typically, the process involves the following:
- Ideation & customization
- Finalization of concept
- Sketches and mockups
- Approval of sketches
- Production
- Delivery
We strongly recommend working with a gallerist or art advisor, who can suggest reputable artists that complement your taste.
An art advisor helps clients with commissions by suggesting artists, refining the vision, offering design guidance to integrate the artwork into the home, working closely with the artist and managing the overall process from concept to delivery.
Commissioned artworks are particularly suited for clients with a clear vision and specific requirements for size, colors and theme, as well as those who are comfortable with giving the artist a level of creative freedom.
